Saturday May 28th was a spectacularly electrifying and extravagant night unlike any other at SF Oasis's Princess Party, for two legendary drag icons graced the stage to deliver showstopping performances.

Gottmik and Violet Chachki, two of the most incredibly talented and trailblazing queer icons to have been in RuPaul's Drag Race came to the Folsom District's must-visit fun Oasis to provide their biggest fans with high-flying acts and joyous dancing for their "No Gorge" tour, in partnership with Hims & Hers and The Trevor Project.

With this amazing health partnership to better provide greater resources and educational awareness for LGBTQ+ mental wellness, the highly-lauded "No Gorge" tour is equally joyous as it is significantly impactful, empowering, and true to the motivating message of Pride month.

We had a chance to speak with the two inspiring legends during their dazzling time here in San Francisco on what this historic stop means for them for their identity, during Pride month, and more.

First of all I would love to know, what exactly does Pride mean to you?

Gottmik: Pride to me means Freedom of expression.

Violet: Pride is all about confidence and self love.

That's incredible. And so what does it mean for you to be in San Francisco and performing in this city that's so integral and pivotal to LGBTQ history?

Gottmik: it’s EVERYTHING! San Francisco is so iconic.

Violet: Bringing our tour to this stage at Oasis means a lot, San Francisco is one of the most progressive and inclusive cities in the US, so being able to do one of our first dates of the tour here for our show, which is also both of those things, means a lot.

What advice do you have for anyone looking up to you both as a drag icon, and as a positive LGBTQ+ role model who might be struggling with their identity?

Gottmik: My best advice would be to trust your gut! No one knows you better than YOU, and if I would’ve trusted that sooner I would’ve been able to transition sooner. You’re valid and you have a whole community out there waiting to welcome you!

Violet: There’s figuring out your gender identity also isn’t a race, there’s no timeline or president you have to follow. Figure things out on your own time and try to enjoy the journey getting there.

That is so reassuring and meaningful. Lastly, what are things you hope people will get out of your tour?

Gottmik: I hope that people come to escape the outside world that seems to be so chaotic right now, if only for a brief moment.

Violet: I have to agree with Mik, drag has always served as a form of escapism and protest for me and I hope people that come to see us can experience that through our artistry.

Both Gottmik and Violet Chachki have their No Gorge YouTube Channel and podcast, with their next stops on their wonderfully remarkable tour being Columbus, Ohio then Los Angeles for their WeHo Pride.

We thank them for being able to spend an unforgettable night kicking off Pride month with us, adding another inimitably historic event to San Francisco's colorfully queer tapestry that will truly be honored and appreciated.
