Wheelies Wanted

Ilana Diamond | April 7, 2014 | Lifestyle Story Culture

Calling all spokeheads. S.F.–based photographer Dwight Eschliman is casting bikes of all shapes and sizes for his latest photo series, Bicycle San Francisco— a visual record of our “evolution into a more bike-friendly city.”

As Eschliman explains, “I like the anthropological side of the project—how a collection of bicycles can form a portrait of a community is really interesting to me.” The final result will be a dizzying grid of bikes (sneak peek above) that portrays the diversity of two-wheelers in this town, not to mention the personalities who ride them.

The project is still very new (only 37 subjects so far), but with more participants, Eschliman hopes to turn it into a book one day. To submit your bike for consideration, check the website. Next stops on the project’s list: Tokyo and London. eschlimanphoto.com/bicyclesf
