Where To Play Pickleball In San Francisco

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America, and new courts are popping up all around San Francisco for sweat and socialization. Break out your paddles and swing by your local pickleball court for a little friendly competition.

Whether you're proficient with a paddle or not, pickleball is an easy game to get into. The matches are short, the action is addictive, and it's friendly for players of all ages and most physical abilities. There is no shortage of indoor and outdoor courts in the Bay Area. Check out this list of must-see pickleball spots!

Louis Sutter Pickleball Courts

614 University St; 415-307-4074 / Website

Louis Sutter Playground contains six pickleball courts available on a first-come, first-serve basis. They are unavailable for reservation, but there are permanent courts and nets, and free play. Restrooms and water are available on-site, as well as picnic areas, the nearby McNab Lake and a clubhouse available for rent.

Lisa and Douglas Goldman Tennis Center

Bowling Green Dr; 415-581-2540 / Website

This park has five pickleball courts with nets, four of which are multi-use with one strictly for pickleball. Courts may be rented for 30, 60 or 90 minutes at a time, with prices dependent on the age of players, the desired time of play and players’ residential status. Residents of San Francisco younger than 17 play for free Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations can be made online, over the phone, or in person. For beginners looking to get into the sport, lessons are available at six-week-long sessions.

Buena Vista Park

118 Buena Vista Ave E; 415-831-5500 / Website

This may be one of the trickier spots on our list, but if you have your own net, it's worth a visit. Four outdoor pickleball courts are available here for reservation with permanent lines, but nets are not provided. Play is free, but you must bring your own equipment. To reserve a court, visit the San Francisco Parks and Recreation website and pick your time slot.

The Crossing at East Cut

The Crossing has three permanent outdoor courts with lines and nets. The courts are open Monday through Thursday by reservation and Friday through Sunday on a first-come basis. A fee is required to play, dependent on the length of the reservation and whether a corporation or individual is reserving. Equipment is not provided, but there are restrooms and food available in the facility.

Bay Club South San Francisco

501 Carter St, Daly City; 415-777-9000 / Website

Pickleball play at the Bay Club South San Francisco includes six indoor courts with permanent lines and movable nets within a 90,000-square-foot facility. The facility has water, restrooms, locker rooms, a member lounge and multi-use areas, but membership is required to play.

Presidio Wall Playground

Pacific Ave; 415-713-4997 / Website

There are 12 asphalt pickleball courts here, with nets on courts 1 through 4, and each are available for one-hour time slot reservations. There are restrooms and water here, and playtime is free. The park also has a basketball court, baseball diamond, and a picnic area for a full day of outdoor fun.

3601 Lyon St. / Website

Three, free, dedicated pickleball courts are available for indoor play at this location. These courts offer 90-minute reservations from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, and it’s free of charge. A new pickleball organization named DinkSF will offer classes, clinics and court reservations, too!
