At Comic-Con this weekend, filmmaker Dana Nachman premiered a three-minute trailer for Batkid Begins, a documentary film that follows the adventures of Miles Scott, the five-year old leukemia patient who became "a pint-size caped crusader who traversed the city performing heroic act after heroic act."
Now Nachman, a three-time Emmy-winning documentarian, has turned her lens onto the crusader, his family, and the Make-A-Wish foundation. You can watch a three-minute trailer of the film here. In it, a cape- and cowl-suited Miles runs through a farm plot and plays in his backyard before heading off to save Gotham—better known as San Francisco. The film will look at Miles's big day, as well as his family's journey.
The filmmakers have set up an Indiegogo page to crowdfund contributions to finish the project. They're looking to raise $100,000. We think they might have a chance—just days in, they've already passed the halfway mark. Unfortunately for comic book nerds, they aren't calling the movie Batkid: Year One.
