Former Perbacco wine man Claudio Villani has opened InoVino, a new Cole Valley enoteca that counters its tiny 30-seat space with style to spare. His 100-bottle menu favors wines from the mineral-laden soils of Italy’s alpine and volcanic regions, like the Cantina Nebbiolo di Carema, a velvety red with rose-petal notes.

A sleek, light-filled sipping spot, Encuentro has stocked up on its red wines for the fall. Proof that wine still sells: this Oakland wine bar’s new incarnation opens early next year with two and a half times the space, a larger vegan-friendly dinner menu, and a pizza oven.

At this new Grand Lake venture, owner Bradford Taylor stocks wines from the likes of Clos Saron and Ryme Cellars, which are not often found in retail stores.
