It’s the Year of the Tiger and that means it's time to celebrate. May it bring you prosperity, health—and a full stomach!
San Francisco's annual Chinese New Year Festival comes to life Saturday, Feb. 19th. It's one the largest Chinese New Year parades in the world, thanks in part to this city’s large and vibrant Chinese and Chinese-American community.
The parade is a great way to celebrate the Year of the Tiger, but even better than a parade is a taste of authentic Chinese flavors, and that’s where Chef Han from award-winning Szechuan spot Z & Y Restaurant comes into play.

Chef Han is going big and bold, in honor of the year’s courageous spirit, with a special menu of select dishes that celebrate the traditions and flavors of the season. It will be served Saturday only, to coincide with the Year of the Tiger parade, for both the lunch and dinner services from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4:30 to 9 p.m. respectively.
Enjoy a meal that tickles every sense. As an authentic taste of China’s Szechuan region, many of the special menu items advertise that signature numbing spice, including delectable pork kidney with spicy numbing sauce and spicy numbing beef tendon.
Spice fans will also enjoy spicy bamboo shoots, Szechuan-style chicken and sliced pork with spicy garlic sauce. Sliced tofu soup, black pepper-braised crab, whole fish with bean chili and side noodles, and tea-smoked half duck will also be served.
Rounding out the menu are divine plates including braised ox tail with brown sauce, bamboo fungus-braised seasonal vegetables, pancakes with beef and sweet sticky rice ball soup. Of course, no Chinese New Year is complete without dumplings, so leave room for pork and cabbage dumplings, too!
Focused on authenticity, Chef Han cooks with passion, bringing a smile to his customer’s face with every bite. That’s why this local favorite has been marked as a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant.
